Wadcutter pellets.. are the best? for??..
Continuing with our series of types of airguns, available calibers and types of pellets, today we are going to talk about the types of pellets.
Wadcutters are the most preferred for the sport of target shooting, so they are not widely used for the Small Game.
This type of pellet has a wide and round head, hence its name. When this type of pellet is fired at a paper target, it causes large holes in it.
Many target shooting sporting events use the Wadcutters in their competitions, some professional events use them as well.
We must bear in mind that although we are talking about a single type of Wadcutters, this type is available from the cheapest and cheapest pellets, to the most expensive pellets that are highly competitive.

Although they are little used in the Small Game, some users or specialist hunters prefer them because according to them they have better performance than other types of pellets, as we will see later those of tip and others. This preference is not scientifically compromised.
In practice the Wadcutters do not penetrate much into the Small Game shooting dams, this means that they work like a hollow point type pellet, but without much penetration on the surface.
This is somewhat controversial because it also depends on the animal being hunted, for example some squirrel hunters prefer Wadcutters. It is their preference and it is repeated.
We must bear in mind that this type of pellet, the Wadcutters do not have very usable aerodynamics, so they lose strength quickly and fall, if you have already used them you know what we are talking about here, for a greater distance you can try another type of pellet.
Keep reading our series of articles related to the types of pellets, and find out which is the best for your task.
As always we will recommend the best air rifles for the small game so you can try these:
Gamo Swarm Magnum G2 .22, Multi, 0.22
Features
- GEN3i INERTIA TECHNOLOGY: The third-gen magazine uses the rifle’s recoil to load the next pellet, keeping the profile low on the barrel and making sure each shot loads smoothly and accurately.
- IGT MACH 1 POWER: Thanks to its beefy 33mm cylinder, the Mach 1 gas piston cranks out more speed and power, up to 1300 fps, so you get harder-hitting shots.
- WHISPER FUSION SUPPRESSION: This rifle comes with Gamo’s quietest tech, double noise dampeners that channel sound through two chambers, so your shots stay nice and quiet.
- RECOIL REDUCING RAIL: The 11mm rail is built with special polymer supports that soak up almost all the recoil, protecting your scope from getting knocked out of whack.
- LEADER SINCE 1889: Founded from a lead production legacy, Gamo introduced its first airguns in 1961 and expanded worldwide. Today, Gamo is Europe’s largest airgun maker and the world’s largest pellet manufacturer, sold in 50+ countries.

Features
- INERTIA FED 10X GEN3i: This magazine uses the rifle's recoil to set up the next shot. Its horizontal, inertia-fed layout keeps the profile low and makes sure each round loads smoothly.
- 1300 FPS VELOCITY: With the IGT gas piston, this .177 caliber air rifle can reach speeds of 1300 fps with alloy pellets. The gas piston means you don’t have to worry about spring wear and you get a smoother shot every time.
- WHISPER FUSION SUPPRESSION: Gamo’s quietest noise reduction tech is built in here. The dual sound moderator works by trapping noise in two chambers, so your shots stay quiet.
- OPTICS & PROTECTION: Comes with a 3-9x40 scope on a Recoil Reducing Rail (RRR). The RRR uses polymer struts to soak up all the shock, keeping your scope safe and working right.
- LEADER SINCE 1889: Founded from a lead production legacy, Gamo introduced its first airguns in 1961 and expanded worldwide. Today, Gamo is Europe’s largest airgun maker and the world’s largest pellet manufacturer, sold in 50+ countries.
Gamo 611006335554 Swarm Fusion 10X GEN2 Air Rifle, .22 Caliber,Black
Features
- INERTIA FED RELOADING: The GEN3i magazine uses the rifle’s own recoil to move the next pellet into place. Its low-profile, horizontal setup makes for a smoother and more reliable loading experience.
- IGT GAS PISTON: Thanks to Inert Gas Technology, this rifle shoots .22 caliber pellets at up to 1000 fps. The gas piston cuts down on vibration and gives you more steady power than old-school springs
- WHISPER FUSION TECHNOLOGY: Gamo’s quietest noise-reducing system, the double sound moderator, uses two chambers to keep things extra quiet by controlling the air as you shoot.
- CAT TRIGGER & RRR: The Custom Action Trigger lets you adjust each stage separately for a custom feel. The Recoil Reducing Rail helps absorb shock to keep the included 3-9x40 scope safe and steady.
