Should we know about laws before hunting?
As we all know, the laws serve to regulate the use of things, in the case of a hunting law, that of the consumption of natural resources, in this case of animals that can be hunted or not.
Game law is a set of statutes that govern the hunting of wildlife and that seek to conserve wildlife populations.
The hunting law is intended to allow the collection of wildlife while ensuring that populations of species remain viable. It has probably been around in one form or another since ancient times.
It is presumed that the first hunting laws were created in China and later in Great Britain that established wildlife as the property of royalty.
Big game hunting was allowed only less to royalty and court nobles.
Hunting Laws in the United States, History
The first hunting law in the United States was a bounty that paid for the killing of wolves. One of the first settled in Virginia in 1632 because wolves threatened the settlers’ livestock. Over the next century, laws were followed establishing hunting seasons and hunting limits and requiring hunting licenses.
As of 2011 in the United States, gaming law is primarily set by each individual state. Federal hunting law is generally limited to migratory animals and endangered species. Native American tribes in the United States are exempt from some hunting laws.
US federal hunting law is the Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act. Passed in 1934, the law requires hunters to purchase a stamp each year. Funds from the sale of the stamps are used for the National Wildlife Refuge System.
Among the most recent hunting laws enacted in 2011 is legislation that seeks to protect hunters’ rights as anti-hunting sentiments grow. Most US states now have hunter protection legislation on their books. In Great Britain, animal welfare laws often contain exceptions for hunting.
Fox hunting has been the focus of much hunting law debate in the early 21st century in Great Britain, Scotland and Ireland. The Hunting Act of 21 in the UK prohibits hunting with dogs. In 2004, Scotland also banned hunting with dogs.
