The CO2 rifle, description, Advantages and disadvantages of using it
CO2 air rifles, as their name suggests, work with carbon dioxide that comes in a can, generally 88 grams to be loaded, which allows a limited number of shots to be fired per gas charge.
Once plugged in, the gas (which is a liquid in the canister) is used to propel the pellet out of the barrel. CO2 air pistols are often used for shooting and basically for fun. They aren’t great for pest control, as they can’t deliver the kind of power you’d need to humanely dispatch the target.
Advantages of using it
This power source allows for semi-automatic use, which is a big plus compared to something like a variable pump. CO2 powered air pistols provide constant levels of power, making them highly accurate weapons.
Disadvantages of using it
A big problem with CO2 powered weapons is that the user should always make sure they carry spare CO2 canisters with them.
Virtually all hunters who use this type of weapon have been stranded without sufficient reloads, so they have had to resort to an alternative weapon, usually a traditional piston rifle to continue the task.
These are not good pest control weapons due to their relatively low power output.
