FX Airguns has long been a vanguard of innovation in the airgun world, consistently pushing the boundaries of performance and accuracy. Their latest offering, the FX King, is no exception, designed to be a crowning achievement in traditional sporter-style air rifles. Blending timeless aesthetics with cutting-edge technology, the King aims to satisfy the most discerning airgun enthusiasts, from hunters to target shooters.
At the heart of the FX King’s exceptional performance lies a fusion of proven FX technologies and new advancements. Drawing inspiration from the highly successful FX Dynamic and Panthera platforms, the King incorporates an over-the-barrel Dynamic Plenum design. This innovative system provides a super solid and rigid barrel, a significant improvement sought after by users of previous models like the Crown. This enhanced rigidity, coupled with the renowned Superior Smooth Twist X (STX) barrel system, ensures unparalleled accuracy, especially when shooting heavier pellets and slugs at longer ranges.
The King is available in two barrel lengths, 500mm and 600mm, with the 600mm version featuring the Superior Heavy STX barrel liner across all calibers for maximum power potential. Speaking of calibers, the FX King caters to a wide range of shooting needs, offering options from .177, .22, .25, .30, and even .35. This versatility allows shooters to choose the ideal caliber for anything from pest control to large game hunting (where legal).
Power is abundant in the FX King. With the 600mm barrel, the rifle can achieve impressive muzzle energies: up to 82 FPE in .22, 91 FPE in .25, a formidable 130 FPE in .30, and an astounding 173 FPE in .35 caliber (with an optional tungsten hammer). This immense power, combined with the rifle’s inherent accuracy, makes it a true long-range performer.
Beyond its internal mechanics, the FX King boasts an array of features designed for optimal user experience. It comes equipped with the AMP MkII (Adjustable Match Precision) regulator, allowing for precise external tuning of regulated pressure. The Quick Tune System, with micro and macro adjustments for hammer spring tension, further empowers shooters to fine-tune the rifle’s performance to specific ammunition and desired velocities.
Ergonomics are paramount in the FX King’s design. The rifle features a custom-designed GRS laminate stock, handcrafted in Norway. These stocks are not only visually stunning, available in colors like Green Mountain, Hunter Brown, and Nordic Wolf, but also incredibly functional. They offer tool-free adjustability for the cheekpiece and butt pad, allowing for a personalized and comfortable fit. The sculpted pistol grip ensures excellent hand placement for consistent trigger control. For those who prefer a lighter option, a synthetic stock is also available.
Other notable features include a high-capacity, easy-loading magazine with a deeper lid to accommodate longer slugs, a smooth side-lever cocking mechanism, a two-stage adjustable match trigger, and dual angled WIKA gauges for monitoring both bottle and regulated pressure. The inclusion of Picatinny rails (with 30 MOA built-in for the optics rail) provides ample mounting options for accessories like scopes and bipods.
The FX King is more than just a powerful air rifle; it’s a meticulously engineered instrument built for precision and versatility. Whether you’re a competitive shooter chasing tight groups or a dedicated hunter seeking a reliable and potent tool, the FX King aims to deliver a royal shooting experience. It’s a testament to FX Airguns’ commitment to innovation and their understanding of what serious airgunners demand. With prices typically ranging from $1,799 for synthetic models to over $2,300 for GRS laminate versions, the FX King represents a significant investment, but one that promises exceptional performance and lasting satisfaction.
