What Types of Airgun Can I Buy?
Spring-Piston:
They are the most common and simple type of compressed air gun that exist on the market, they work with a spring and a piston. The ‘break barrel’ action is when the barrel of the gun is broken or leveled back, this cocks the gun by compressing the spring.
Gas :
These models are virtually identical to the spring-piston, but they have only one difference, they have no spring, the mainspring is replaced with a sealed gas unit and it is the compressed gas that pushes the piston forward, not a spring.
CO2:
CO2 air rifles are powered by a carbon dioxide (CO2) cartridge that is inserted into the gun.
Typically with a pistol, it will be a 12g canister and with a rifle, it will accommodate an 88g canister, which is usually inserted into the buttstock.
PCP:
This type of gun has a reservoir inside the gun that is manually filled with air, either through a scuba tank or a hand pump.
The air will continue to fill until it is at the correct pressure to fire. It is the compressed air in this reservoir that expels the shot from the barrel.
Multiple pump:
They are very similar to PCP in some ways, the air is compressed by pumping the air gun several times, usually 3-10 times. The more times you pump it, the more powerful the gun will be.
